Wide Tires Wandering?

Just went from 16x8'x to ZR1's with 275/40/17's and now my car likes to travel the road like a blind man driving. Is this normal with a wider tire install? And what is anything can correct this?

Re: Wide Tires Wandering?

I noticed this too when I put on my SS 10-spokes, and the problem disappeared when I put on my 15" Welds...

Haha yeah with 275s or bigger it is going to walk around and follow the cracks and all on the roads. I went to 275s in the front and 315s in the rear and mine tracks pretty bad

Re: Wide Tires Wandering?

Every high use road has groove wore into the pavement and your extra wide tires are following them like they are railroad tracks. Very common with wide tires it just keeps you alert.

Well I'm thinking of going to a little narrower tire then. I hate that jerky feeling when I'm driving. Almost makes me want to put the stockers back on. But I love the ZR1's.

Yep....mine tracks like a drunk too, the faster you go the more of a handful it will become. I took it back after getting it aligned by a good performance shop, and he said, "yeah it will do that, some tires (manufacturers) are better at tracking straight than others."

Yea I thought something was wrong with my car too when I first got my 335's, but I love how it looks too much to get rid of em.
