wheel stud?

replacing my warped powerslot front rotors and i notice a wheel stud with the end broken off. it was the unthreaded end of the stud. must of broke when my new tires were put on two years ago. should i replace it? if it's the unthreaded part at the end it shouldn't make a difference, right?

Re: wheel stud?

Might as well replace them all. They're cheap, and who knows what kind of stress they've been through if one sheared at ANY point.

Re: wheel stud?

Just to be on the safe side, I would replace it.... Most parts stores have them in stock...

Re: wheel stud?

are you sure it is not a replacement stud that doesn't have the unthreaded part at the tip? does it look sheared or does it look like the tips of the ones with the unthreaded part

Re: wheel stud?

the rest of the studs have the unthreaded tip, this one's tip is just broke off where the thread begins. i hate to replace it when it's just unthreaded anyway.

Re: wheel stud?

Even though you do not want to replace it, as others said, there must have been a reason it broke in the first place, its a cheap, easy fix so might as well do it.

just my .02 cents

Re: wheel stud?

it wasn't easy. had to use the hammer to get the old one out. the new one was hell to get in using the open ended lug nut method. no way am i replacing any more that don't need it. got my new autozone rotors on and no more vibrating when my car comes to a stop. job well done. $50 to $80 in my pocket instead of in a repair shop.
