go with a 245/50/16 tire size to get some better performance choices. also, depends on your budget

I'm running the Ecsta Supra 275/40/17. I will definitely be switching to sumitomo HTRZ 2. The Kumhos have pretty crappy treadwear in my experience. (and I'm not just fraggin' the rears) Although, they do look good, a pretty tread pattern is a horrible reason to by a tire. And they're relatively expensive compared to the Sumitomo's

First, what are you wanting the tires for? All out handling, drag racing, or a well rounded daily driver? What price range are we talking?

Second, stay far away from the 712's. I had them and they were spun easily on the back and allowed the front to slide on sharp corners. I finally got rid of the crappy things after my front end hydroplaned. The ONLY Kumho street tire I would run is the MX.

im running falken Azenis RT-615 on the back and they stick like no other. i used to be able to do my "special" u-turns by just sliding the car around...now i cant do it. lol

the only drawback is that people are only getting like 10k miles out of them. they arent a track only tire, but might as well be.

I've had my RT-615s for over a year of daily driving now. They are nice tires, but aren't the best in rain.

you can fit 255/50/16's too, so dont rules those out. I would spend at least 100 per tire. If you dont your going to be hurting the performance. A good tire will give you better acceleration(by not spinning tires) better braking and better handling. But a crappy tire will hurt all these areas.
I dont understand people who dump thousands into other areas of the car and cheap out with tires. Makes no sense to me.
look into goodyear gsd3's
dunlop sp9000
kuhmo mx's
bfg kd's or kdw's

My Kuhmos were terrible. I'd spin through third in a bone stock (K&N and Pro 5.0) '97 Z28 M6

If your looking at a all season I'd suggust a 245/50/16 BFG KDWS.

Don't buy a tire just because it's expensive. I've had Sumitomo's in the past and know others who have them on several of their cars. It's a very affordable tire and mostly great reviews by other ppl who use them. Decent tread wear and excellent grip. Very progressive traction loss when pushed. Won't just snap out on you at the limit.
