what tire in 275/35/18 for street handling and traction
Hey guys,
I think I'm pretty much decided on running 18x9.5" rims all around. I think I'm either gonna run 275s all around, or 275/285 combo. MAYBE 295s in the rear, but I doubt it.
That car will see mostly street use and some track (drag racing). I will not put a huge amount of miles on the car each year.
I'm not sure what tires to get. Lots of guys on vette board say that the new Firestone Wide Ovals corner great, but I'm not sure what they are like for straightline traction. What about Nittos? Any other brands?
Tread life is not that important, although it would be nice to get some life out of them, but I want true good function in the corners and straightline. Worst comes to worst, I'd just bolt on my set of ET Streets (16") on the back for track use.
Thanks guys,
Igor.

hmm im gonna hop in on this one, how do these compare in straight line to drag radials? is it worth the trade-off for cornering ability? i do a lot of street driving but have found that 18s are so horrible for traction ive been eating tires just in normal driving from slipping the rear on the 1-2 shift (this was with my auto hopefully the 6spd wont be as bad because i can slip the clutch) theyre a little cheaper than the last tire i had (pirelli Pzero Rosso - 289ea. in that size) treadware is same rating.. so how do they compare to that tire?
