What does wheel size effect?
Re: What does wheel size effect?
It can alter your speedometer readings if you do you not correct your tire size to the changed size of the wheel.
Heavier wheels can slow the car down in the 1/4, making braking harder, and just make the car feel heavier and slower.
Also, if you go too big, you can rub your fenders and potentially destroy the tire.

Re: What does wheel size effect?
If the wheel/tire combo weighs more then the factory set-up, it just takes more power to move the wheel/tire. And it's the opposite if the wheel/tire combo is lighter, it takes less power. There are pro's and con's to heavier/lighter wheels. For instance, lighter wheels will increase your 1/4 trap speed, but they can also increase wheel spin at launch do to weighing less. Heavier wheels can give a better launch due to less wheels spin from the weight, but will cost you in the 1/4 trap speed.
Larger wheels can also cause wheel sping due to having less sidewall with the tires. In drag racing, you want sidewall flex to gain traction. A thinner, meaning stiffer sidewall will not wrinkle. But in road racing/auto-x, a stiffer sidewall is preferred.
And wider wheel/tire combos give the better traction in both drag and road racing.
