Talking Tire Help

Have the stock Eagle GS-C 245/16 on my 2002 Camaro...

I have a big a** screw through the shoulder of my rear back tire which is unrepairable... I am able to drive on the tire, as long as I put a little air in it every few days...

My question is: I only have 12K miles on the tires and they have excellent tread left on them. I guess I like the tires and hope to keep them till I need a new set. Anyone have any ideas where I can find a spare GS-C tire (without paying $200 for a new one)? Anyone have any used or spare ones?

BTW, what are some awesome tires out now that are recommended for the Camaro? I know they dont make the GS-C's anymore...

Thanks much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok.. those tires are POO.. really.. and this is coming from a person that has owned 2 Z's and gone through countless tires (well I could count but its a large number..)
Dunlops (I forget.. been some time but wasnt impressed), Bridgestones (the higher end bridgestones are good but he cost is insane!), Pirelli (P-Zero), Yokohama(AVS Intermediate - discontinued and replaced with AVS ES100), Kumho Goodyear (GSC), BFG(Comp TA and Comp TA DR), Nittos.. been there.. done that..
Michellins high end line is the one I havent tried but know that the performance is there.. just the cost is too prohibitive.

Best all around bang for the buck - Yokohama AVS ES100. hands down. This tire is in line with tires costing 2-3 times as much.. It will let you cut a 1.9 0-60' time and still let you hit the turns hard and fast with great predictability.
Usually this tire in the 245-50/16 size runs about $110 at your local discount tire.

Ill even throw in a little extra here.. When you go to buy a tire and know the exact model of tire you want, be sure you dont let them switch you over. Often people go in and the tire guy starts telling them something stupid so he can sell what he has in stock. It makes him look good. It does not help you or your cars ride or performance.

Stick to your guns and you will be very pleasantly surprised and amazed..

The tread life of the tire must be seen this way:
IF the tire you are using is inferior you will not be able to take turns as fast and will extend the life of those tires (my GSC's lasted 28K miles).
IF your replacement tires are excellent in both traction and handling then you will find that you start to take turns harder. The tires inspire the more spirited driving because of the confidence they will give you. Thats when you will notice the better tire lasting half as long as the other tires.. but you will have more fun with them and feel way more comfortable in the wet and dry.. (but we all know how spooky it is in the wet and hitting a puddle... ugh..) with the ES100's you will hardly feel it.. you will feel it mind you.. but compared to the other tires its almost night and day.. the car doesnt feel like it floats and you will still feel in control.
