To Those Who Have C5 Wheels On Their Z28
How on earth did you get the rear 18x9.5s to fit? I tried hammering the inner wheel well but it doesn't want to "cave in" enough for me to get the wheel on. It seems like I'll need to pound it in about an inch or maybe a little more but it is very hard to pound it in. I tried using a sledge hammer but the inner wheel well is too far in to use the sledge effectively. Any ideas? I know they are wide tires and wheels but I thought they would fit on a Z28 pretty easily.

Re: To Those Who Have C5 Wheels On Their Z28
I believe they are the stock wheels off of a '98 Vette. The tires are 275/40/18. I do have the car up on jack stands but I should still be able to put these wheels on the rear without them rubbing anything, shouldn't I?
Re: To Those Who Have C5 Wheels On Their Z28
I had rubbing problems on my car as well with thinspoked c5's, only when i turned though. I drove mine for a little while and then pulled the wheels off to see where they were rubbing and took a hammer to it. Worked fine, try pounding it a little harder.
Re: To Those Who Have C5 Wheels On Their Z28
Well, maybe I just got a factory freak, the bad kind. lol I'm going to get a digi cam this Christmas so I'll take a couple pics so maybe you can get a better idea of my situation. I have searched a lot and I seem to be the only person having problems getting these wheels onto my Camaro. However, all of the people I've seen have had '94, '96, and '97 Z28s so maybe for some reason there is a difference between them and my '95.
Re: To Those Who Have C5 Wheels On Their Z28
My buddys 00ss had the same problem with these wheels on his car as well. Mine was lowered his wasn't except for whatever drop comes with the slp suspension package. It seems like the people that have the rubbing problems are those with the factory wheels. I don't really see people with the replica ones having problems. Could also be dependent on the tires on there, the ones i had were the factory run flats.

Wheel option with a +56mm offset (6.95" backspacing) is a direct fit for 1997-2003 C-5 Chevy Corvette combined with 18x9.5" with an +65mm offset (7.75" backspacing) for the rear, and also work on Corvette 1988-1996 (front and/or rear).
An optional wheel with an offset of +50mm (6.75" backspacing) is available for 1984-1987 Corvette and also for 1993-2003 Camaro, Z28, Trans-Am and Firebird applications.
They work all the way around (front and rear) or combined with 17x9.5"s with +53mm offset on the rear (Corvette, Camaro, Trans-Am or Firebird) or even with 18x9.5"s with a +50mm offset.

Re: To Those Who Have C5 Wheels On Their Z28
See, with the car up on stands I can get the wheel to fit on the studs but it is only about 1/2" on the studs. The top of the tire immediately hits this hard rubber thing on the bottom of the inner wheel well that kinda looks like this: \__/ Should I remove that rubber piece and then just pound the **** out of the above well until I get the damn thing to move? I'm just afraid I'm going to hit it too far in and then it will hit the spring. I can just cut that little section out instead of pounding on it if that would be okay to do. I just can't figure out any other way these wheels and tires are going to fit. I mean, the car has to be jacked up to get the wheel on, right?
It looks like it will fit if I were to jack up the rear end until the wheel fits close to the top of the wheel well instead of the middle of it.

Re: To Those Who Have C5 Wheels On Their Z28
Maybe your rear needs to be centered. I have 18x9.5" C5 wheels at all four corners with no issues. I had to pound the fender a little bit, but not much. I also had to center my rear axel with an adj. PHR. Maybe you need to do the same.
Re: To Those Who Have C5 Wheels On Their Z28
Maybe so, maybe so. All I know is that I am frustrated and need to take a wee break before I end up breaking something, lol. When you say centered does that mean raised to where the new combo will be centered in the wheel well? If so that definitely makes sense because the wheel well fades more toward the middle of the car the higher you go, thus giving more clearance for the tire. Did you have the PHR before you tried mounting these tires? Thanks for the help, everyone.

Its hitting on the jounce bump stop
You MAY need the SLP jounce bump stop kit. ALSO, is it fitting over/around the hub? I had to shave 1mm out of the center hole of my wheels (rear) to get them to fit over the hubs.
