Sumitomo tires?

They are a really good deal, anyone using them, or have used them. Just wondering if they are a decent tire to use. Car will be rarely driven, especially not in the winter time

Re: Sumitomo tires?

the htrz2's are decent tires. seem to ware ok, despite their ****ty tread wear rating. they are good in the rain. they are perfect for me in daily driving. notihng i'd want to autocross on, but they do the job on the streets. the htrz 1's are the only 315/35 tire that you don't have to trade your soul for, so i'm going with those also.

I have them on my show car. you can't beat the price. They ride very smooth and quite. Not sure about the wear. I'm sure they won't more than 20,000 miles.

Re: Sumitomo tires?

I have some in the big brown truck crossing the country mounted to some zr1's; 315's in the rear.

Some one said they are the only 315's you dont have to sell your soul for and they are right on about that. You can buy three sets for the price of a 1 good set. If your worried about traction, by a set of drag radials for the track with the extra 400 bucks ya save. I dont expect to get 20k out of any tires i buy for my vehicles. My truck tires are 800-1000 for a set and last me 8-10k miles. If i get 5k out of these tires, ill be happy, thatll be at least a year for less than 400 bucks, cant beat that. My truck tires are replaced every 4-6 months.

Re: Sumitomo tires?

I got mine in yesturday and installed last night. It was raining, but i had to take it out and just drive it for a little bit. I was actually inpressed with the wet traction. I dont know if its the extra width of them or what. In the past i read about 315's being surfboards in the rain. I had no problems with hydroplaining at all. If the dry traction isnt horrible and they last me 5k miles Ill probably buy them again. If not a set g-force t/a drag radails for $160 a piece.

You must be very hard on tires. I've had my KD's on the back of my daily driver since Feb 05.

For the truck, Its boosted, so that takes away from the tire life a whole lot. Also, i wheel the **** out of it, and they get cut up and chunks out of them as well.

For the car, Im basing those times and miles off of my last car, which was involved in racing almost everyweeked, and that is usually all it was drove.
