Re-finishing the inside of my chrome y2ks
Re-finishing the inside of my chrome y2ks
I have a set of 17x9 chrome y2k wheels and while the faces are perfect, the insides(beyond the "lip" of the face) are all pitted and gross. I got the idea to sand down the chrome on the inside, hit em with some black paint and some clear, and have brand new looking wheels. Think this'll work? Has anyone done something similar before? Thanks in advance!
Re: Re-finishing the inside of my chrome y2ks
I have the OEM chrome wheels on my Firehawk, and the inside ("barrel") of the wheels was badly pitted and scarred, with the chrome flaking off. I took them to a wheel refinishing place, and for $400, they sanded down the barrels on all the wheels, and sprayed them with semi gloss black paint. The finish isnt perfectly smooth, but it is 99% better than before, and is much easier to keep clean. So, I'm satisfied with the decision.
Now, the replacement set of chrome wheels (I bought a second set before SLP stopped selling them) is flaking off on the inside too. So, I plan to get those rims fixed soon, too.
