Question about tire and wheel widths
Question about tire and wheel widths
I have a quick question for anyone who knows anything about tire and wheel combinations.
I have a set of TT2's in the 17X 9.5 variety and I'd like to put a 245/45/17 size wheel on there. ( since it is the exact same wheel just smaller section width) Then the 315/35/17 that I have on the back.
Now my question:
A 245/45/17 from every company is rated to a 9.0"wheel. A 245/40/17 is rated up to a 9.5". How can the same width tire not be rated up to the same wheel because of sidewall height?
I called BFGoodrich tech line today but they couldn't answer that question. I'm hoping someone here can.
Thanks
~Jim~

a 245 on a 9.5" rim is gonna be stretching to fit.
why not go with a 275/40/17 that is the most common wheel for the 9-9.5" x17" rims
thats what came stock on the SS/Ws6 rims
and they are the same size around as your 315s out back
