problem w/ front tires 275 40 17's
I just put on a set of 275 40 17's all around on 9.5" rims. the tires were used but in good shape. when i drive the car now and hit a bump, the car pulls either right or left, and i can never tell which way it will pull. I never had this problem before. tha car still drives straight as an arrow on smooth roads.i tried rotating the tires ( but still kept them rolling in the same direction) and it seems about the same. Is this common w/ that size tire up front? i will buy new tires if i know that it will solve the problem for sure. any help will be appreciated. I know that there are tons of people with this size up front. thanks...

the wider you go........the more the tire will grab ruts or grooves in the road. when you go over a bump the car "bounces" an the tires will come back down and grab the easiest groove.....at least that is my experience with different tired widths

Occured to me also, same thing 17x9.5 275/40s all around. What I've found is that after a bit, probably 3k miles (just a few weeks for me), that it's gotten better, or maybe I've gotten better at driving it. This is with hankook tires.

Happens to me too, but it is normal when getting wider tires as previously stated. A different tire will probably not help much, it is mainly the width causing it.

Re: problem w/ front tires 275 40 17's
I just put 255/40 R17's on the front and 285/40 R17's on the back. Going to the 255's from the factory 275's really helped take away some the tracking. I went back with the same model tire too (comp T/A's).
