Painted my wheels! (pics)

Finally painted my haggard chrome ZR-1's... white! I'm about 80% pleased with the paint job, and 100% pleased with the way they look on the car. Spent about two hours per wheel sanding... no fun at all. Used XIM 400w primer (supposed to be good stuff)- two coats of that, and three coats of gloss enamel. Looks pretty good, but still a little rough in spots (I figure I can touch them up any time).

Nice job. IMO its a refreshing change from the typical black and gunmetal that is currently popular.

Hit them with a clear coat and see if thats smooths them up a bit.

They look great. The white actually gives those particular wheels some life. The shape of those get lost when chrome. Unfortunately, you'll spend more time cleaning them than enjoying them. Not like you're allowed to leave the house anyway.

I'm lucky if I even get to go outside.

Cleaning will be an issue with some brake pads. I have a '97 with the white spokes. The factory pads were HORRIBLE. Five miles of driving and the wheels were crappy looking. I put ThermoQuiet pads on this fall, and things seem to have improved a bit. Next year, I may go to a paler ceramic pad.

They do look nice on the black car though. Good Job!

I guess she went out and put the wheels back on while you held the "baby".
