New wheels for 3rd gen.
New wheels for 3rd gen.
I've been looking around for new wheels to put on my 3rd gen and don't really like the idea of the big spacers needed to put 4th gen wheels on. What wheels does everyone think look good on a 3rd gen with out having to put on big spacers?
Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
spacers are used for short gaps...adapters are what you would use. try looking at wheels here...

just to name a few.... budget determins all. cast steel is cheapest with forged one piece billet then 2 piece and 3 piece being the most costly.
any 2 or 3 piece wheel can be built to your own specification for your project. very few cast and one piece wheels available for our cars though.

Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
do some research and come back with some choices and educated questions. at which point i can give you references as well as links of where to shop, whom to talk to and what b.s/offset you might want depending on wheel width and overall dia.
good luck.
good luck.
Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
Well i was mostly looking at ZR1s, Z06s, C5 wheels, or torque thrusts. but if I do any of these ill have to get adapters. not as bad as i first thought they would be. i also thought it would be easy to get a 4.75 to 4.5 adapter and get some gun metal torque thrusts from a mustang,(they would be cheaper) which also have a crome lip. now the mustang bulitts are 29mm offset for the 17"x8".
now my question is what would i have to do besides the adapter from 4.75 to 4.5 to fit these? would i have to do a spacer too?

Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
no you purchase an adapter cut to fit.

personally for the price you'll pay in the end just get something from boyd in a similar design as his billet wheels are just as cheap when it's all added up. having adapters i'd much rather save a few months and spend another 2-300 to have direct bolt wheels in the exact size and width i want with proper offsets.

Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
sorry to get off topic, but what is the bolt pattern/back spacing for a third gen. camaro. i have some TT2's that my manager wants but i dont know if they fit. i have them on my 93 trans am, 16x8's BTW. thanks for any help
Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
the bolt pattern is4.75. the tricky part is the offset the rears are 56mm and the front is 26?mm. not exactly sure.if anyone can fix any mistakes would be nice.
yea i think you are right thought about spending the extra to have direct bolt ons.

Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
so that is the offset of the wheels you bought? the 56mm is in range for a 2" adapter and even smaller for the 26
factory is 0 up front and +16 in the rear for a z28. so you were to bolt the 56 you definately wouldn't want to go larger then 2" as 1.75 might even work and much smaller then 2" for the front.
use the link i posted, it will tell you what to run, i've never heard of a vette wheel even for a 4thgen having such a low offset as 26mm.

Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
yea i don't know where i got the 26 mm from
but this is what it says on the other page ...
Name Size Offset Backspacing
Camaro 82-92 16x8 front 0mm 4.35"
Camaro 89-92 16x8 rear 16mm 5"
Now if i went larger than 16" say 17".. the offset would still be the same right?

Re: New wheels for 3rd gen.
did you not look at any of the links i posted....?
there's easily 50+ wheel designs right there in any size and width you could want for any vehicle, let alone a thirdgen and that's without really searching.
