need some tire help
alright, just so I can save my masculinity, I'm not much of a car guy. I know enough to make the mechanic think I'm not a dick, but that's about it. My girlfriend needs new tires on the rear, the tires say "245/45/17 89W" but the only ones I've found say "245/45/17 95W". Are these gonna be ok?
Re: need some tire help
The "89W" and "95W" are the "service descriptions" of the two tires. The number can be referenced for the load rating of the tire, and the letter corresponds to the speed rating.
In your case:
89W = 1279lbs, 168MPH
95W = 1521lbs, 168MPH
In other words, you're just fine with the tire choice.

Re: need some tire help
Check out tirerack.com. You'll find everything explained very well. I sent one of my wife's friends to their site for info. She ended up getting a better deal at Discount because she knew what the ratings were better than the salesman did. Knowlege truly is power.
