need opinion on new tires for 18's

well im running nitto 555's 275-40-18's currently and i burned through these tires in about 5k .. i had probably 4-5 track runs and a few big burnouts but mainly i found they sucked for traction and i could easily break em loose in 1st 2nd and even 3rd when they were semi new.

i cant justify spending 400-500 on 2 drag radials but i really need a good tire that sticks and gets decent treadwear. I also want to be able to make about 10 track passes this spring/summer.

So what do you guys reccomend... i really need to order them in next day or so as i need to drive home in 3 weeks and dont think the nittos will make it.

so please whats my best bet... ? ( this is just for my rear fronts have new tires)

ummm...finding a tire with good treadwear is going to be detrimental to a tire that takes multiple trips to the dragstrip. You might want to consider getting some tires that wont see the dragstrip and buy some slicks for the track.

You don't have your stock 16's around? You could throw some slicks on those or even some used DR's.

Sorry but there isn't really much you could go with in a 18" wheel.

EDIT: btw if you are burning out in street tires you really aren't helping that much just a quick spin to clean them off is all you need.

the stockers are back in CT ( which is what im planning on throwing some slicks on) and nope not burning out at track. NYIRP there is no way to avoid waterbox so i just give them a quick spin to get the water off.
