Need new tires - Thinking Nitto 555R Drag radials
Need new tires - Thinking Nitto 555R Drag radials
I've got a '99 Z28 6 Spd that I only pleasure drive about 2000-3000 miles per year, only on dry roads, and it's garaged all other times. I want to start running some pleasure-only runs at the local 1/4 mile and would like a tire that will perform there.
I'm looking at these tires because they look like an excelent drag/dry pavement tire for the money. I know they've only got a ~15k mile life expectancy but with the mileage I realistically drive this car, that will be 5+ years.
I really like the looks of the GS-D3 but can't justify the cost for a little extra wet traction and tread life, neither of which I really need.
Does anyone have these tires that can tell me more about them?
Thanks for any and all input
Mike

Re: Need new tires - Thinking Nitto 555R Drag radials
ive had them for 3 years and i launched my car many times with burnouts often, allthough i am an a4 and dident have a stall converter at the time, they are good tires for light to medium mods, but once i put the new motor and rear with 3:91 gears, they werent enough and are just as bad as a regular street tire.

Also, I also forgot to mention, if an Autocross opens up here I will probably want to run in it... will these tires work OK in Autocross conditions too or should I look at something like the RII or something else?
Thanks!
Thanks for the input.
