M/T ET Street Slicks...13.5" wide?!
M/T ET Street Slicks...13.5" wide?!
Hey guys, tried searching briefly buy my eyes began to cross after reading "26x10x15" a hundred times...
Anyway question is as follows:
I have a guy who is selling several sets of slicks/skinnies. Although the backspacing is still unknown as I write this (he is checking on it), can an MT ET Street Slick with dimensions 28x13.5x15 fit in the stock wheelwell of a 94 Firebird? Especially one with a 12-bolt in case that makes a difference?
If it technically fits w/o rubbing, are their any issues with high speeds, studs, etc to watch out for?
Oh also, the seller claims these are mounted on 15x8" rims <--this certainly violates the +/- 1" rule, right?!?
And...will there be excessive wear problems from the large difference in rim:slick diameter ratio?
Thanks!!

Re: M/T ET Street Slicks...13.5" wide?!
You would be suicidal to try running on 8" rims with a 13.5, in my opinion. You'll need 11" rims, and a LOT of fenderwell modification, as well as fender lip modification.
Re: M/T ET Street Slicks...13.5" wide?!
Thats what I thought!!! I am glad I didn't buy them then - I am going with a 26x10.5x15 on a 15x10 rim - should be the perfect setup.
Everyone keeps telling me with these tires and skinnies up front along with the LE3/355 that's currently being assembled that I'll be able to pull the front end up even on the street.
I can't wait...

Re: M/T ET Street Slicks...13.5" wide?!
M/T measures the 28x13.5-15 ET Street on a 10" wheel, so there is no need for an 11" wheel. The TREAD is what the "+/- 1" guideline applies to, and the tread is 11.0".
I put a 28x10.5-15W ET Drag on the Formula, and that is 13.1" wide (vs. 13.2" wide for the 28x13.5-15 ET Street), the tread is 10.9" (vs. 11.0") and the diameter is 28.1" (vs. 28.0), so you shouldn't have a whole lot more trouble than I had fitting them on. My inner fender liners had already been hammered for 315's, and they need a bit more hammering for the ET Drags. The fender lip had already been rolled, so that was OK. The axle had been moved back 1/4" so there was no tread contact at the front of the wheel opening, but the rear bumper cover had to have about 1.5" taken off of it to prevent the tires from rubbnig when they grew (its only been up to ~135 on a chassis dyno, and it rubbed on the metal part of the fender that's behind the bumper cover).
