M/T E.T.'s ride quality

Right now I have cheap-o brand 235 tired on my car, last year I spun pretty good and this year I have quite a bit more done to the car (nothing internal) and the car is now just a weekend warrior. I was thinking about the new M/T E.T. streets but a buddy told me that I will go threw quite a few sets just in one season even though its a weekend car and I should just get some meaty radials. Another guy said one set should last me a season MAYBE two, he also said that with them on his car his car felt really loose in the back just driving around town. I was thinking about mounting them on my sallad shooters till I can afford some nice pro stars.

Your thoughts???

Re: M/T E.T.'s ride quality

If you want to stay with a 16" wheel look at the BFG DRs and the new MT ET Street radials...There is a guy selling pairs of the 255 16s in the MT DRs for $260-270/pair. This is a good price. Or you could check locally at Big name tire shops for the BFG DRs. I hear that Walmart can get them (BFGs) and I know Merchants will match Tire Rack.

I'm a fan of radials because they ride nice to and from the track. I use, and have used since 1996, BFG DRs on my 11 sec Formula. I get about 4000 miles/set which is one year of racing/street driving. I'm up for a new set soon and the MTs look appealing, but I hear that they are not for true highway driving. I drove from Florida to PA on my BFG DRs with no probs...and they are cheaper...

Re: M/T E.T.'s ride quality

The street radials are what I have been going to, they have them at a local speed shop on display.

Is a 255 all I would need? I would have thought you would need something lager or is that all I will be able to fid on a sallad shooter???

Who is this guy selling them?

Re: M/T E.T.'s ride quality

The 255 16 is roughly 26" tall x 10" wide and works fine on a 16x8 "salad shooter". I run the 275 40 17s on a 17x9 ZR1 wheel, but you get a little more sidewall to help with launch on the 16's...GMHTP did a series of 1.60s to 60' in a recent test with MTs and 2 deg neg pinion angle...Don't know the guy on Ebay, but has good feedback...Do a search of "Drag Radials" on Ebay...

The ride isn't bad, but I wouldn't wanna cruise on the highway at a high rate of speed or take a turn real fast. If you think and drive like you should on a slick you should be fine

Re: M/T E.T.'s ride quality

Too bad you're all the way in Indianapolis... I have a set of salad shooters with BFG DR 255/50/16's and two wheels with no tires that I'm going to try and sell (all 4 as a set) for about $225 or b/o. Wheels are in perfect shape and the DR's have maybe a couple hundred miles on them if that (I didn't keep em' on there long because I show my car and they are sticky tires). Did use em' at the track a few times before I got ET Streets.

Also, I have a set of polished aluminum Weld Draglites 15x3.5 in front (M/T Sportsmans) and 15x8 in rear (ET Streets). This wheel/tire combo is mint and looks hot on the car. I used the MT's a few times at the track just to get enough traction for 11's. I don't really want to part with these but I guess I'd take $800 or so for all (spent like 1400)... only thing is... shipping would be a pain... ET Streets are ok for driving to the track (as long as you don't get caught in rain), but you can't use them as an everyday tire. I currently have 16" chrome salad shooters with Michelin Pilots on the car. I need to get rid of some of this stuff to make way for 18's. My wheel collection is building up and taking up space!!!

I would buy them in a heart beat but.....
I was 86camarodriver over at camarov6 and remember a topic about a ligtley moded LT1 not being able to run 11's..... and my post was changed. Not really angry anymore, just know a few people came forward saying they saw my post get edited (you were mod in that forum) then the topic being locked with in seconds and I was not loged in on the site and they told admin and I never got a Im sorry from anyone in mod status or admin over there, just a I will handel it from admin. I know quite a few guys left that site because of it...

I will leave it at that before I get angry again...

What do you guys think about the new Radials on a weekend only car?

Track on Thursdays, cruise on Saturdays????
I would rather not have to swap wheels every week....

Yeah, that's cool. I didn't even know who you were. I was pretty angry at the post/replies that were on HERE and there, where I was being called names by people that I didn't even know (including yourself) who were backing up someone who frequently "caused" problems over there. I say "caused" because "5.0 THIS" or "GN-T66" as he was known there, no longer posts. I don't know exactly why, maybe he was banned for his derogatory sig and not posting his email address both of which are violations on the site. Or maybe it was because of his consistent bashing of a fellow mod over there. He is (or was) known for causing problems in the forum that I moderate (with another mod, btw) and his posts were both rude and of no help to the original poster. I was simply disputing his claims. Regardless, there was NOTHING wrong with my reply posts in that thread (please go back and re-read). I don't know why you are still taking this all so seriously and to heart...this was like....7-8 months ago?...these are message boards and things happen. If anyone should still be upset, it should be me since I'm the one who took the verbal abuse. But I guess since I am a female, it was ok for a bunch of males to gang up and slander me, (in defense of a trouble-maker) right? As for the whatever you are saying I edited...I don't even remember what I did this afternoon....let alone 7 or 8 months ago, but if I did, sorry, if I didn't...doesn't matter...either way life goes on.... As far as people leaving the site... we have 6,765 members... At least I FINALLY got a chance to state my opinion on this matter and it's off my back. You got to vent also. BTW, no hard feelings...

Good luck finding tires/wheels!

Re: M/T E.T.'s ride quality

If I went calling you names then I am sorry. I was pretty angry about what you did.
Please don't use the female excuse, I know a lot of girls that are into cars and they put up with a lot because of it but they hold their own.

You are a MOD!, mods are supposed to be the example not change peoples post around to do a Ill show you.

I forgot all about it till I saw your screen name honestly.

People got on you and a few others for saying a mild LT1 could not run 11's and thats what I jumped on if I remember right and I got mad at you FOR CHANGING MY POST. The number one thing anyone can say to raise hell in the car world is the words can not.

The two things I was mad about is a respected mod editing peoples post and Admin just saying I will handle it and never saying a word to me after that.

Congrats on the some 6k members (I think this site is in like the 10k range?? or higher), I have not been back since to notice and or care.

No hard feelings, just lost my respect for a few people including you and admin... It never had anything to do with 5.0 this or any of them I got mad when my post was edited to make me look stupid then locked. I just left the site, left the v6 world, got a Z and never looked back. It says a lot about a site that lets there mods edit peoples posts to make them look stupid.
Thats the end of it.

Ohh and in response to
these are message boards and things happen.

Yeah, they do, mods get angry and change peoples post to make them look bad then lock the thread.(It did happen, people came forward to v6 Admin and said it happend)

I drove on the MT DRs to the track today and thought they rode great. I didn't really change my driving habits at all and couldn't really tell a difference between the DRs and my street tires. This also included driving up the interstate doing 70-80mph

Sorry, I don't really care who "respects" me or not. I'm doing the best job I feel that I can do and I can't satisfy everyone. Try being a mod for 8 years dealing with kids who come into your forum to bash each other. Or better yet, when someone asks a question, some other idiot comes in stating "the my car is faster than yours" garbage and then causes chaos when he is challenged. You simply need to admit that you came into that post to cause additional problems. End of story.

Re: M/T E.T.'s ride quality

if you are tired of it and can't resist editing peoples post to make them look bad then do what the other mods do when they get tired and step down, don't go around making people who DO know what they are talking about look bad .

Out of respect for the camaroz mods I will leave all this at that because I know I don't have to worry about them changing my post so to thank them I will end it.

I never said I was "tired of it" so please do not put words into my mouth. Again: You simply need to admit that you came into that thread to cause additional problems. VERY similar to what you are doing here. I made an offer to you, (not even knowing who you were) and tried to assist you with wheel/tire combinations in this thread and you should have simply said "sorry I'm not interested". I'm done with this. Have a nice day.
