Looking for adapters so I dont have to grind

I was told I could find adapters to put on my rear axles so I wouldn't have to grind on my 10-spoke rims. Anyone know where I can get them. I was told that in 97 or 98 they went to smaller axles and thats why the rims dont fit right and I really dont want to grind the lip off of the rims if I can help it.

Buy a 12-bolt..... that will eliminate the hub diameter problem. It did on my Strange.

All you need to do is move the wheel out from the hub a distance equal to the width of the projecting part of the hub. A simple spacer would do that, although you would need to make sure you don't run into problems with the studs being too short. I personally don't like spacers with highly loaded wheel applications, like running slicks or sticky auto-X tires.

The amount of material to be removed from the inside of the wheel hub opening is minimal. SLP used to advise people they had to do this when they sold the "takeoff" wheels.... indicating that it took light sanding to remove an amount about equal to the thickness of a sheet of paper. If done carefully with sandpaper, I doubt you could even tell they had been sanded. You can't hurt anything... the wheel is centered on the axle by the conical lug nuts/seats, not by the hub.

Thanks Injuneer. I wish I could get a 12-bolt but it was between that and a paint job and considering my car is five different colors right now Im saving for the paint job.
I guess I'll break out the die grinder and sanding rolls tonight. I did it on the WS6 rims that are on there now but I was kind of worried that if I didnt center it just right the wheel would vibrate. Thanks again

dude it's not a big deal. A dremel can clean that up in no time. it's a VERY small amount to get them on. The grinding is inside/under the center cap and hense... very close to the axis of rotation.... even a total butcher job wouldn't affect the wheel balance. Just make sure you clearance it enough that it fits flat on the hub and you'll be fine.
