Look for wheels and tire packages, need advice...

I want to purchase a wheel and tire combo however I need a few questions answered before I begin...

My 16" tires are shot, have to replace them soon. They lasted me roughly 70K miles though - I wanted to go with a larger tire however can I expect any sort of lastability out of a 17 or 18" tire? If not then should I just replace the tires on the 16"'s and purchase 17 / 18" wheels / tires for car shows, track, ect?

I notice everyone keeps talking about offsets so I want to ask what exactly are they talking about? and how do I know what offsets will fit my car?

What size wheel would you recommend? 17" or 18" ? If I keep my stockers would it be wise to stagger?

Oh and where do you recommend I search for them? We used to have a guy here from Discount Tire Direct... Luke.. is he still around?

All tires have a tread wear rating. Drag radials would have a smaller # for TWR. (correct me if I'm wrong). THe higher the #, the better the TWR. Depending on what tire you go with and how you drive, burnouts etc, they will last for a while. I have roughly 12k miles on my Eagle F1 GSD3's and the fronts show signs of litte wear. The backs on the other hand are half life... -

The wheel's offset is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel.

Discount tire is where I got my wheels from. 17" would be perfect, IMO. If you would like to purchase aftermarket wheels, that is.

As far as staggered, I'm a little foggy on that one. THe offset should be the same all around, if you are going with the same width all around. If you are going with, let's say, a 11" wide wheel in the back, then the offset is different for the back than it would be for the front. If the fronts were to be 9" - 10" fronts.

Check the stickey up top. A LOT of info in there.
