I remember an article in Chevy High Performance where they found out what was the widest tire would fit on all 4 gens of Camaros and I think they said that you could do 275 w/o fender mods around but I cant quite remember. DONT quote me on that either. I can try and dig it up and find out for you but it might take a while because I have ALOT of old mags.

The article is in the Jan 2002 CHP. Here are the widest for 16 and 17 inch wheeels:
Front: 16 inch Rear: 16 inch wheel
Backspacing: 5.0 Backspacing: 5.5
Wheel width: 8.5 Wheel width: 8.5
Tire size: 245/50 Tire size: 255/50

Front: 17 inch Rear: 17 inch wheel
Backspacing: 5.0 Backspacing: 5.5
Wheel width: 8.5 Wheel width: 9.5
Tire size: 245/40 Tire size: 275/40

The article said to double check the numbers yourself to get the exact sizes for your own car. These are the biggest numbers they found you could go without modification to the stock wheelwells or suspension.

No problem. I was expecting that I would be looking for magazines for over an hour to find the right one but it was the 3rd one I picked up. Funny how things work out like that
