Has anyone had these tires?

It's time for new tires on the Z-28. The ones that came with my wheels are worn out so I need some replacements. I'm looking at the following tires: BF Goodrich G-force Super Sport A/S They seem like a good compromise between affordability and not being a cheap-*** Chinese tire. Has anybody had them, and what do you think of them?

They fair pretty good overall it looks like, which is what one would expect from an all season tire.

The physical look of them is pretty bland though.

I am actually about to order me some of those exact tires, well in a 275/40-18... They are pretty decent for the price and the treadlife and the traction rating.

I've always had good luck with BF/Goodrich tires.

Have you had a set of those before or is this your first time buying them?

I was also looking at the Yokohama S.Drive but I've read a couple people say they feel mushy in the corners.

Edit: They didn't have four of them in stock and even the manufacturer doesn't know when they'll get any, so I went with Kumho Ecsta ASX instead. We'll see how they are. :sigh:

Well the Kumhos came in last Friday, and I'll be getting them mounted tomorrow. As a result of the new ones coming in, I had to send the old ones off in style:

I did not like my Kuhmos, but they're cheap. Do they not carry Sumitomo in your size?

I don't know. Perhaps. I really wanted those BFG's but they couldn't tell me how long it'd be before they got them back in stock. We'll see how these Kumhos do. The road noise level isn't that bad, which is at least one good thing.

Why get all-season tires if you live in the south?

My rear tires are almost bald, and I'm thinking about getting a set of the summer-only g-Force Sport.

It can and does get down to and below freezing down here and I drive my cars year-round. I don't race anyway, so the increased tread life is a plus.

I could always hear the rocks being thrown onto my fender wells while driving around my neighborhood when I had Kuhmos.

Time to move out of the trailer park and you won't have to deal with gravel roads.

Kumho Ecsta ASX: Well I've had these for a few weeks now and have put a couple hundred miles on them. The road noise is pretty good. I don't notice it drowning out everything else in the car. I like that. The BFG T/A KDW's on my blue car are pretty damn loud at highway speeds. They seem to hold up to acceleration a LOT better than my Hankook Sport K104's that used to be on the Z-28. Of course, this may not be so much a compliment to the Kumhos as it is a testament to just how crappy the Hankooks were. Those would light up with what seemed to be even the most minute agression toward the fun pedal.

The car doesn't seem to wander when I get into a rut the way the old tires did. I never had that problem when I had 245's on the car, but it came out big time when I went to 275's. Doesn't seem to be as noticeable on the Kumhos though. I haven't had the car at the track since getting these, so I can't tell you how they hold up to a drag launch. I may never be able to though, as I'm unsure if or when I'll ever track the car again.

Overall I'd say I'm happy with them. They're a huge improvement over the Hankooks. And though that may not be saying much, I'm glad I can actually get in the gas pedal without sending a cloud of smoke behind me every time.

I can guarantee you Ladson is closer to a trailer park than Overland Park.
