Goodyear GS-D3's or BFG gforce sports in snow?

I thought that by living in the south I would be exempt from the gheyness of snow, but apparently I was wrong. I'm supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow tommorrow.

I have an M6 z28 with 275 GS-D3's, and an A4 LS1 TA with 255 gforce sports. Both tires are not recommended for snow or ice. Has anyone used thise tires on snow? Are they deadly?

I figure I'd just park the z28 and use the A4 car with skinnier tires if I absolutley have to go somewhere.

Well it's not gonna be fun with either, but I'd say the G-Force Sports are the better option of the two

I'd also throw as much weight (sandbags) as possible into the rear to help as well....

Good luck though

I can tell you for sure that the GS-D3s are worthless on snow/ice.

No firsthand experience with the BFGs, but those are summer-only tires too, so I'd imagine it'd be just as bad.

Can't you just stay home?

Staying home is my primary goal. If I have to go somewhere though, I was wondering which tire was less dangerous. I'm glad you have firsthand experience with GS-D3's, so I dont' kill myself with them.

The BFG's are almost new and have much deeper tread. THey also have little hooks and other irregularities in the tread that might make them liveable in the snow.

I have no experience with the Goodyears, but the BFG's are what's currently on my car. I'm in the same boat as you, and can say the tires are worthless in the snow/ice. I had never planned to use them for such though lol, just be easy on the gas unless you need the tail to slide . I spent about 2 hours in an empty lot two nights ago while it was iced over, so I could be ready in case we got what they were calling for. Lucky me I didn't have to use those skills :P I can say anything more than releasing the clutch resulted in wheel spin...

if you are looking for a tire that is all season go with the bfg g-force super sport a/s. good dry/wet/snow traction and looks good to.

the bfg g-force sport is a summer tire only and the same with the gdyr gsd3.

The snow has melted. It only snows here once every 10 years. I'll be OK. I drove on my Gforce sports and didn't wreck.

You didn't read the thread.

Also, if you think the g-Force Super Sport has good traction in any conditions, you've never driven a tire that does. I have those on my Camaro right now, and they have mediocre traction in all conditions. GS-D3s put them to shame in wet and dry, and any snow tire or M+S tire would put them to shame in the winter.

NO!

I drove 25mph or less everywhere I went. I have alittle snow experience, but most people here have none. I drove a total of 55 miles in the snow, and I saw 9 wrecks.

1 3rd gen was completely smashed in, and the rest of the wrecks were import light SUV's, like Rav4's, CRV's, etc.... It was funny that the AWD, snow tire equipped vehicles were wrecking, while my RWD, Hipower, lowered car with summer tires was fine.

Generally the people that wreck are the ones that have confidence in their vehicle and over-do it for the conditions. You had 0 confidence and probably were super careful knowing sliding was going to be crazy easy lol. Well done, but next time find an empty parking lot and get some "practice" in for next time haha.

I am amazed at how people freak out down south just because of a "little" snow.

Although, I guess it is understandable as their municpal fleets are probably inadequate for anything more then a dusting of snow.

That and if you've never driven on it, then it can be bad. But I doin't think driving on snow is bad at all; you just have to allow a "little" more room. Ice otoh...sucks.

I agree. I had low confidence, so I was careful, conservative, and safe. The folks with ravs 4's and whatnot think that thier import toyota supermachine is capable of anything, and they wrecked. I got passed by mulitple light SUV's who were breaking the speed limit, IN THE SNOW!!!!

I admit, I freaked out a little. I have snow experience, since I have lived in NoVA and kansas. I don't like driving in snow though, it's annoying to me. I setup my cars for an environment without snow, so I got caught with my pants down when it snowed. Furthermore, I know alot of people here have not driven in snow before, and thier lack of judgement and experience is what worried me more than anything. I knew I wouldn't spin out and hit a tree, but I was worried that someone else would bump me, spin me out and send me into a tree.

We only had a couple plows in town. They were slow to deploy.
