forged or cast?

I have the opportunity to buy some Z06 wheels, and the guy says they are the forged Magnesium ones, but how do you tell if they are the real deal? they are the dark charcoal color, and light as hell, but is there any real sure way to know? and he wants $1000 for all four, with tires, is that a deal?

Re: forged or cast?

i do not know how to check those particular vette wheels. i do know they made them though so check the vette forums for that. as far as the material it is very lightweight in comparison and usually quite expensive from the factory. as far as forged it's lighter then cast. just a type of process, look it up on the net to find out the true technical aspects. i would definately check though as dark charcoal was a typical cheap original cast factory z06 style wheel and there are so many replicas that look identical. just be careful..
