few question about tires sizes

waht is the smallest tire size that will fit an 18"x10.5 wheel? a 245? a 275?

another thing... what negative effects would I have if I put a 275 tire or any tire too wide on the rear axle of my 3.8. thank you.

On a 10.5" wide rim I wouldnt go under 285. I really dislike the 265s on the front of my 9.5s as they offer far too little protection of the lip of the rim. 275 is perfect for 9.5" wide so on a 10.5" wide rim I'd imagine 295 to be the best overall width, but not going any less than 285. Thats just me though, I dont exactly want to scuff up my rims due to undersized tires.

I dont believe the 6er cars have any variation in the fender wells from the Z28s so you shouldnt have an issue going up as wide as 285-295 all around but may require a little hammering on the inside of the fender. Though I'm not certain on the V6 cars of any differences.
