Eagle F1GS-D3 vs Mich Pilot Sport PS2
Just wondering how the 2 stack up, looking at both.
Tire Rack rates the Eagles a little higher and cost less, but I'd rather hear from you folks who have used either/both. I'm looking hard at the Pilots since I have had much better luck in the past with Michelins over any other brand.
Going on a stock '02 SS A4.
Biggest concerns/priorities are:
Wet weather traction and hydroplaning
Ride quality
Low noise levels
Tread life (to a lesser degree)
Thanks,
Allen

Yeah, ive been wondering more about the GS-D3's also. They look like awesome tires and seem to have good ratings for just about everything and for all things considered, arent that expensive, so first hand knowledge would be awesome!

I have 285/40/17 GSD3s..... awesome tire. Great in the Wet, pretty sticky in the dry. Hands down, the best Goodyear tire I ever owned. I don't know how well they will work over time. I've had these about 8 months with average miles. Goodyears typically harden up in their last half of tread so we'll see what happens. Up to now, a definate home run.

We sell those two tires and pirelli's here at work and it seems the PS2's are a little bit better in terms of dry traction but for wet the GSD3's hands down.
The GSD3's are now coming standard on the new 05~06 Maserati's Coupes/spyders and on the QP. We are waiting for Ferrari to get on the ball.

Yes the Eagle F1 GS-D3's are your best bet. I work for GoodYear in Freeport, NY. I go to tire training classes all the time. Actually these 2 tires were put up against each other in our last class. The Eagle F1 GS-D3 tire significantly outperformed the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. The main reason the GoodYear has better we traction is the design of the tire. The huge V's that are shown on the tire are called "Auqachutes" You see how the water is being dispersed from under the tire to the sidewalls.
Also the F1 has Race-Wrap technology the F1 actually is 3 tires wrapped into one. Its the GoodYear Eagle GT-HR, the GoodYear Assurance TripleTred, and the F1 itself. So you got performance, tracton, and pretty long life for such a performance tire.
Any questions on tires please dont hesitate to ask me. I know tires like the back of my hand. LOL I have to!
Any tire needs ask me also I can get: GoodYear, Dunlop, Kelly, BFG, Michelin, Firestone, Bridgestone, Continental, Perielli, etc. Pretty much ANY brand of tire!
Let me know
