do you carry a spare?

i haven't carried one in years, but now i'm concerned about it. i used to carry some fix-a-flat, but i read on there that it was explosive what do you do?

I dont carry a spare only because of the weight savings. If i do go on a long trip though i put it back in there. And fix-a-flat SUCKS. It can be explosive in a sense. As the tire heats up it can cause an enormous amount of pressure to build in the tire and cause the tire to explode. Fix-a-flat is also flammable. And just a sidenote, your local tire technician wont be that happy with you when he finds it in there

The factory hide-away doesn't weigh much at all, the performance/fuel economy from not having it will be negligible at best. You can get one from a junkyard for dirt cheap, you'll be sorry without one.

If you have a reason to remove it because you need to put a stealth box there or something I understand, but removing it for the sake of removing it or trying to cut weight is just...pointless! Yes you can get AAA and wait for 30 min on the side of the freeway to get your car towed, or KEEP the spare and be on your way in 10, you decide.

I agree .

And I haven't had a spare tire in my car either in 2 years. I don't even remember where it is.

I have mine and it doesnt interfere with my amp placement...barely weigs anything i can't see where a huge performance increase will come from removing it. And where I'm from AAA is a 3 hour wait, not 30 mins.

I always carried mine. If you're worried about weight, dump the stereo/amps, and most people have 20lbs of crap they don't need in their car anyway.

i have amps there, I actually carry plugs, rubber cement and the tools to fix holes. i have a small air tank i keep in the car. I have amps in the factory spot, but i've never needed to use it. Just be aware of your car, i can tell in under a minute if one if my tires is getting low. Just go get air and get it fixed.

the main reason i took my spare out, was because i didnt drive the car outa my town very much and after spending hours trying to get the thing in there and stay quiet, i finally just took it out and eventually put my 4 ch. amp back there. the damn thing ALWAYS made noise when i went over bumps and whatnot. i couldnt take it, i knew exactly what it was and could NOT get the thing to stay quiet so i took it out.lol.

like said tho, if your tires look low, just fill them up.

the worst thing is when people think their tires are low, but neglect them because "hey, the car still drives". i usually see dumb girls doing this. if you cant get air, go to your local discount tire, it is FREEEEE and takes like no time. if you dont want one, it wont be a big deal for some other autoshop or tire place to put some air in your tires. most people get flats because they neglect their tires, not because they ran over something.

I carry my extra race tires in the car so if I get a flat, I just have to bolt on a road race tire and simply go faster when I return to the highway.
