Chrome or Black ZR1s

I have reached a delima. Recently I had accidently curbed my rims and damaged my tire to the point that I need to replace the tire. The rims are fine, just have some curb rash on them and it will drive me nuts. I also read that the tire that I need (F1 GS-D3) in the 275/40/17 size are in backorder until March. I would use two of the tires I have now on the fronts and then buy 2 new 315/35/17 tires.

I've wanted a bit of a change on my car. I have had the chrome ZR1s for over 3 years now and while I think they look great, the black ZR1s have really grown on me. Obviously I will get 17x9.5 in the front and 17x11 in the back. Should I get the black rims or stick with the chrome? Have a look on my cardomain page for pics of the chrome ZR1's. On one hand, the chrome doesn't really match anything and I think the black rims would work well with the blackouts while on the other hand I have red mirrors and a red sail panel. Most of the pictures of red Z28s/SSs have black mirrors and sail panels and I don't know how it would really look with them being red and black rims.

Re: Chrome or Black ZR1s

I'd take chrome over black any day of the week, regardless of vehicle color. Of course, I've never liked black rims, in part because of the the dark color rim explosion on riced out vehicles. Now whenever I see black rims I automatically start looking for the fartcan and superwing. Anyway, just my opinion, it's your car and you know best.

I would agree on the whole ricer thing, but you can also argue that many of them do chrome too Anyways, there are pictures of some red Camaros like this one from cpt_bimes. Hope you don't mind me posting this but I think your car looks great!

I also think this one from 86LT4Z looks awesome too!

SUCH A HARD CHOICE!

Re: Chrome or Black ZR1s

So I decided that I will stick with the chrome ZR1's and get them from OE Wheel Manufacturers because I want the 17x11's to have that 'deep dish' look to them.

I also plan on painting my calipers red. Thanks for the opinions!
