I have a set on my car right now. Im not sure of the weight. I love the way they look though. Im going to take pics later today if anyones interested. Id part with them for $1200.00 (3 18s and 2 17s). Im missing one cap (its in the mail) and theyre a little chipped. Ive seen a single wheel go for 300-400ea at local Vette shops. $1100.00ea new!!
Re: c5 magnesiums
i got 4 18X9.5 GM factory direct magnesium wheels, with center caps, shipped for 925. for any of you that know what these wheels cost, that's the price of on wheel, from the dealer, without shipping. PM me if you wanna know where.

Wow those are sharp! I didnt know much about those wheels but they are nice looking and unique too. What color are they, it almost seems like a Z06 wheel color. How much less do they weigh compared to other wheels? Does the weight savings help lower the rotating mass alot? Very cool.
I hear that the weights can fall off at high speeds though...

Re: c5 magnesiums
yeah the c5 mag's had serious quality control issues... many had serious imbalance problems that required excessive weights. Combine that with a lipless exterior and the stick-on weights looked totally ghetto. Damage to the wheels was very common, it's impossible to repair the mag casting, etc...
Not a very attractive investment, though I remeber seeing more than one pair of them up for grabs on vetteforums.com for ~$800 a SET... cheaper than chrome ZR1s!!!
If you find a well-balanced set with no dings or cracks it won't be cheap... and really wouldn't be all that worth it. Limited durability and no real weight savings over a spun-cast ZO6 set.

my custom body shop will balance them from the inside of the wheel with weights to near tolerance, then put the lead weights on the inside of hte wheel so they are clean on the outside. the weights on the inside of the wheel will be glued with some sort of metal-metal glue, then taped over with aluminum (it's not coming off.) and as far as quality control issues, they should be balanced to within specs of every other wheel.
magnesium wheels can be repaired just like any other wheel, it just takes a talented shop and a good repairman. it would have costed me almost 100 per wheel just to get the bends out of the lip from Sears "knowlegeable" staff using a freaking crowbar on my wheels to put on a tire. dont go there unless you are watching them like a hawk and can tell them not to do certain things you dont want done.
the weight is close to 10 pounds for a 18*9.5. they are very light, and are solid magnesium. from the factory they have no weights on them, and shouldnt. depending on which valve stems you use, you'll need more weights. the color from the factory is magnesium, powdercoated clear, with a sticker in yellow that says magnesium. i personally think they look searing hot on black cars, and i happen to have black
