BMW wheels

A friend of mine has a BMW z3 and I love the look of the wheels on the M3. To make a long story short, we put one of the bmw wheels on the camaro and it fit perfectly. they make the wheels in 18x11 (have no idea if this would fit...) and 17x11. Since a few people have managed to fit 17x11 wheels on their camaros I started thinking that I could put the beemer wheels on my car. The problem is that I have no idea how much backspacing i would need. Does anyone know how i could figure this out? The only thing i could come up with it taking the wheel off, making one out of cardboard and measuring it... It would be neat to find one that fit perfectly without having to beat in the wheelwell or roll the fender lip. any thoughts on this? and has anyone even tried this before?

Re: BMW wheels

Do a search, it has been discussed by some of the smart people on this board. Apparently, the lug pattern is ver close, but not identical. They will fit over the studs, but when you cinch down the lug nuts to center the wheel on the hub, your going to be putting things in a bind, with potentially expensive consequences.
