Best tire for the money?

Hey guys. I do not have a lot of money to spend right now but i need tires on my 2000 TA i just bought. First, will 275 width tires fit on stock 16 inch TA rims? i have the origional 245 width on them right now.

Second i want a nice tire that gets good traction but i am more concerned with getting one with a long tread life. what do you recommend?

275 will not fit on 16x8 wheels. Firehawks are a good choice i hear that are well priced.

Widest tire for 16's is 255, and I believe dunlop makes some.

Will i even be able to notice between 245 and 255? also can someone verify 255/50ZR16 will fit on stock 16 inch 2000 TA wheels?

THey fit, a friend of mine had them on his car...they looked slightly better then the 245's that were on there previously but there's not a big difference...

I had 255/50/16 Khumos on my old car (95 Formula) and I think they were a bit to tall. A little truck like. Filled out the wheel well nice but too tall for my taste. Now if only they made a 255/45 that would be perfect. Oh well I have some ZR1s on the way so I won't have to worry about that soon.....Later

Lightbulb

Just slapped a set of Sumitomo HTR+tires on at the advice of my cousin, who owns a tire store. (I'm on a budget because I'm gonna be a dad in about 4 months). Tires ran about $105 each, and have a 400 treadwear rating which should give them a long life.......traction is excellent with almost no wheelspin, and my car rides a helluva lot better than with the BF Goodrich KDWS's..........anyway, if you can't spend upwards of a grand for tires, they are a good choice, but then that's just my .02!

I have some Kuhmo ASX's and I love them, they grip so much better than my stock tires and they are great in the rain as well.

I just ordered a set of these http://www.vulcantire.com/451_t.htm

It cost me 502 shipped for a set of 255-45-17's and the best part is that it only took them one day to get here!!!

They look bada$$ too, haven't really been able to "test" them yet though
