Ok well I have a rebult tranny with a shift kit so the car is not getting traction in the shifts. I was told best thing to do is get slicks so I will get the track down the track and not end up with burn outs at every shift point down the track.

be careful who you listen to

do not get slicks unless you are prepared to replace your stock rear end. Automatics have a much easier time with them than manual tranny guys, but theres still a chance that the first run you make will send your rear end away in a shower of metal pieces. The rear ends in these cars are notoriously weak under that kind if stress, and upgrading the rear costs anywhere from $1500-$2400 depending on where you go.

You can do it, but like I said, just be ready if/when it happens

So don't go to slick unless I upgrade my rear end? So right now I should just run with the huge traction loss?

why don't you go for a happy medium and get some nitto's? They are a slick composite that is street driveable. Best of both worlds., and not as bad on the rear as full slicks. I ran them on me 160,000 mile rear about 10 times down the track with no problems

ok then, what "else" do you have done to your car. Nittos will hold just fine with a simple shift kit.

Um rebuilt tranny with a shift kit. PCM programming, 160 thermostat, and slp loudmouth exhaust thats it. To me its basically stock.

get some new nitto's or heat them up better in the hole. I can't imagine how you're loosing traction in all gears. How about posting up some times, like 60's, 1/4 and trap speeds.

to be blunt your sixty foots suck.... if those are drag radials
what is the #'s on the tire?

what tire pressure do you run?
describe your burnout....

drag radial tires cut 1.6-1.7 sixty foots easily

Perhaps on a much more modified car but on a bolt on or near stock car, thats not going to happen, at least often. 1.7s are possible but not at all likely. Mid 1.8s-under 2.0 should be easily attainable with great driving on DRs though.

agreed that a stock/bolt on A4 car cant cut 1.6-1.7 sixties, i was just saying that a drag radial is capable of it or less

from reading this post, i think that he doesnt have DR just nittos.

You never said anything about drag radials. You just said nittos and so I answer yes. I have nitto 450's.
