Bent rim

My dad's tire on his mercury sable keeps leaking and the tire place said that he needs a new rim. They put this black gunk on one section where his tire meets his rim to make a better seal. I'm guessing that his rim may be slightly bent, i can't see any other way if the tire is perfect and its still leaking air. What kind of place fixes stuff like this? He looked at the price for a new rim and they wanted $780. Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I know most companies that make wheels have machines to have the rims straighten back out.. Check with a local tire store and see if there supplier has that ablility.....

The business next door to me is always sending DUBS to Cali to have fixed.... If its a steel rim, should cost too much..

I had mine straigtened at a local wheel shop, where all they do is straighten rims. Cost about $80/tire. You'd never know they had been bent!
