Check out my car with 19" HRE 547 wheels.

Re: Another one on 20's

whew!
man o man, some of you guys are pretty harsh.....
I mean, if you had a more correct offset (where they would tuck under the car more) along with a 2 inch drop and a set of Wings West W-Type gfx....it would be a totally different story.
i had 19 front and 20 rear setup awhile back, then i decided i wanted a "matched" set so i went 19x10 all around.
20's are do-able, if done correctly (with GFX and a good lowering)
one of the guys that started the whole 19/20 setups (crkhedmat) did it right, that's where i followed his lead.
the only 20's now will be on my slammed S10 i am currently working on.
change a few things up (add gfx and lowering springs) and you might be suprised how many opinions might change.......good luck.

btw hawaii,
your Z is looking pretty sweet!

Re: Another one on 20's

If we all had the same tast this hobby would be boring. I'm not from the ghetto. Just because there big and shiny doesnt make it ghetto. The ghetto didnt create big chrome rims anyway. I do agree that its rediculous how in the south people are putting big chrome rims on regular cars. 24's on a candy coated cutlass . I wont knock them but its not my tast. thats what they like to do, then so be it. Why is it ok to drive a pick up with huge monster wheels having the car sit 15 feet tall. Double standards It may be a cultural thing but again to each their own.

[QUOTE=ree9c1] Why is it ok to drive a pick up with huge monster wheels having the car sit 15 feet tall. QUOTE]

Because there is a purpose to those, those are tires that are so tall, not big shiny wheels. The vast majority of those guys with big tall pickups live in the country, and want that kind of height for bogging, rock crawling, etc...Not just for the look. Now what purpose is there to a big shiny wheel like what you have? None. Maybe to make the less knowledgeable think your car is cool...? Those wheels do nothing except take away from the performance of your car, which is actually a nice car, without those rims. I wonder...How much does each of those wheels weigh? 70-80 lbs? You have any idea on how much stress that puts on a drivetrain?

What makes you think that big chrome on a cutlass is any worse than big chrome on a sports car? I'd rather the big wheels on a car that isn't made to go fast and handle well. Especially when the wheels will ruin so many good points about the car. On anything it reminds me of little animals that gather up shiny stuff for their nests...lol.

Re: Another one on 20's

I beg to differ... I lived in florida for 2 years, I remember seeing monster trucks or pick ups on huge tires on highways all the time. Nothing pratical about that Why is it soo hard to understand? I'm sure people look at some of us as being crazy on the amount of money we spend on our cars just to make it go fast. Hell, my girl thinks I'm a junky when it come to the drag strip. I have a 4 door sedan that runs mid 12's and will run 11's after the stroker rebuild. In these days with the price of gas and atmosphere no one should be driving performance V8. Does this mean you'll stop? All I'm saying is have some consideration for other people's tast and interests. I'n my neck of the woods everyone around me drive expensive European cars like Benz and Range Rovers. Big shiny things are very popular around me. At the drag strip I do take off the 20's. but when I'm cruizing the the streets of New York City theres nothing like the attention my car gets that it doesnt get on factory rims. Old foggies at the supermarket will even tell my wow you have a jazzy car, nice wheels!

Re: Another one on 20's

Sell those 20's, find some 17" or 18" TOPs and save up for some performance mods...sure you've got a fast caprice...but caprices are the more "styled" vehicles for 20's...fbody's belong on anything 18" to 15" rims...no more no less...right now your camaro (bone stock im still assuming) is all show no go even if it has an ls1.

BTW: you've just increased your rolling mass greatly because no 20's are "light" hope you enjoy working on your brakes alot.

Re: Another one on 20's

all these people that think 20s on a camaro are dumb need to stop hatin.i feel like you need a litlle bit of both to have a street ride...besides "dubs" i also have cat back exhaust, k & n air cleaner(full intake in the works), power slot brake rotors, pbr brake calipers, clear corners, street scenes front grill, custom ss hood grill, 1 10" pioneer sub, 600 watt boss amp...that is all money has allowed me to do for know...future plans include: ultra z28 hood, hypertech power programmer, gears(3.73),etc...

bow down to the dubs
