Alternate tire

I have a 1995 Z28 Camaro with tire size of 235/55 16
I was wondering if there was a different size tire that is available to use thats a little cheaper.

I live in California. and that tire is hard to find.(has to be ordered at most places)

Most Z28s came with 245/50R16. I don't think it will be much cheaper, but it should be a bit easier to find in stock.

Going from 235/55R16 to 245/50R16 will decrease the overall circumference by 2%. When your speedometer reads 60mph, you will actually be traveling 58.8mph.

If that discrepancy bothers you, you can get it recalibrated for less than $100.

Are you the original owner of the car? If not, check your RPO code sticker. It's possible that your car came from the factory with 245s in the first place, and a previous owner downsized to save money / increase tread life / etc. If you see the code QFZ or QLC, it came with 245s. If you see QMT, it came with 235s. If it came with 245s, then installing that size again will actually restore correct calibration to your speedometer.

...the V6's base tire is a 215/60/16, but it's a VERY skinny tire for the F-Body!

Yep. Those are only 0.5% smaller in diameter than the 235/55s, so your speedometer will only be off by a couple tenths at 60.
