im going to be putting these on my car in the spring......what size tire? can i go with 285/40/17s or do i have to stick with 275s which seems like most people are going with? thanks.........also what tires do you guys recommend.........i have good year eagle f1 gs-d3s on my C5 wheels....but they are so damn expensive....great tire but pricey....i was looking at the ecsta mx-c

any opinions//?

 

I have the same wheels (17X9.5 Z06). I run a NITTO 275/40/ZR17 DR on mine, however with the 9.5 width, you can run a 285/40/ZR17 if you want. The tire size is an oddball size though. Most of the tires out there for that rim size is going to be the 275 series, thats why most everyone has them. If you can find a 285 though, it will fit just fine.

 

I have the same wheels. Link in signature. I am running Falken GRB 451 275/40R17 and they work pretty good only got 1000 miles one them so I need to give it a while before I say how good they really are. but I would just stick with 275's a little cheaper and not much of a difference anyways.

 

You can get the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in a 285/40YR17, and it's only a dollar or two more than the 275/40YR17 (per tire, tirerack.com).

I'm planning on getting 17x9.5's with 285's all around on my car, but I'm holding out for C6 Z06 replica wheels to become available in that size.

 

I'm running 285/40/17's on my 9.5" wheel and they fit fine.
