150 psi later....
150 psi later....
So I take in my 17" SS 10 spoke chrome wheels to have BF Goodrich KDW tires 275/40/17 mounted. Two shops tell me it couldn't be done because they were not expanding all the way out, one side seemed like it was sucked under. They put in 60psi, then 90psi but no luck. 7 hours of dealing with those two shops, I go to this other shop, not widely known but it's local and I figured what they hell. They did all the usual things to get it to expand correctly but nothing they did worked. So they said they were going to fill them up until it expanded correctly or it bursts. It took 150psi in order for the tire to pop out all the way, then they lowered it back down to 40psi. All 3 shops told me they had never seen anything like this happen to tires. Is it normal to put that much pressure into a tire? I'm glad I have new wheels but it just seemed strange that it took that much to get them on correctly.
Re: 150 psi later....
when i read this, i KNEW it was about a bfg tire. on the old kdw models, ive had to take the pressure REALLY high to 'pop the bead'. wanna put it in the tire cage before going past 40psi for saftey precautions
takes lots of bead lube and patience, i'll tell ya what
