11" wheel questions? need help please
11" wheel questions? need help please
I just got a set of 11" wheels for the rear tires on my Camaro and when the guys at Discount Tires went to mount them they said that the wheels are too wide and won't fit without rubbing. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas on what's causing it? I know they fit, but I'm have someone mounting them for me since I can't be there to get it done myself and they're catching hell trying to get them put on. Please help! Thanks for any suggestions. Here are the wheel dimensions:
size: 17x11
offset: 45
backside: 7 3/4

I have corvette grand sport rims on my car and we decided tocut the bump stops out and roll the lip of the fenders. Now that I have upgraded the suspension and lowered the car with koni shocks and eibach springs I am kicking myself. DO NOT TAKE OUT THE BUMP STOPS. Find a local shop that can roll your rear fenders for you.there should not be an issue once you do this. Check out this web site to try to get some more ideas about the rear using 315's;

I have 17x11 w/50mm offset on my 98Z and have had no problems(did hammer mod the inner fenderwell on backside of tire around bumpstop to front of wheel well)Never has rubbed once not under hard acceleration,not even at the track
Re: 11" wheel questions? need help please
Why are you kicking yourself about cutting the bumpstops off? I had to hammer the inner fenders, roll the lip and cut the bumpstops off to get my 335's on.
Re: 11" wheel questions? need help please
Its not an issue with just myself in the car. Its when I carry other passengers. If I carry more than 2 people the car bottoms out. The only way to get around this is to put back in the bump stops back in. I have 600+ dollars in Koni's and they are basically paper weights!!
Re: 11" wheel questions? need help please
A lot of 11" wheels will catch on the rear bump-stop when the suspension is fully extended. Like, if the guys at Discount put it on a lift and let the wheels hang.
The solution is to jack up the car by the differential and mount the wheels like that...
