WTB: First or Second Gen Camaro or Trans Am
WTB: First or Second Gen Camaro or Trans Am
Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy another project car and I would like to get my hands on a 68-71 Camaro or a 77-78 Trans Am. I would like for the bodies to be in fairly good shape, but I understand that there will be some rust areas. The car doesn't have to be running or it can be a roller, I don't care either way. I'm not looking to spend much maybe around 1500 or 2000 at most. If you know of anyone that has one sitting in their yard or see one on the side of the road it would be cool if you could give me a heads up so I could check it out. Oh BTW, I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area

Hey thanks guys for the replies, I really appreciate it. Thanks for the heads up on the 71-73 body style. I thought the split bumper camaros were only for a couple of years.

I checked out a '68 Firebird in Crockett, TX last weekend and it is more work than I am willing to take on. It is a complete car, will need a pass. quarter panel, drivers door, hood, and possibly fenders depending on how much work your willing to put into it. Not sure about the motor, couldn't get the hood open. The owner said it ran when they parked it there. The interior is trashed, but mostly there. It was a blue on blue car, but needs a total resto. the # for the car is 936-544-4430. They are asking $1000 for the car, it's a good deal I just don't have anywhere to store it.
Fwiw, my '79 Trans Am is the most fun car I've ever owned. I bought it from stone4779 on here. The car came out great, even made it into a Car Craft issue and we have next to nothing invested in it. late 2nd gen T/A's are getting more expensive though, prices have doubled in the past two years.
Good luck!

I'm not too big on the first gen Firebirds, they don't look right to me for some reason. Even up to 76 I still don't like the looks really. The nose cones just don't appeal to me, which is the main difference. I used to own a 79 T/A that was Solar Gold. I wrecked it 3 times and after putting a new front end, and rebuilding the 403/350 and putting a Hotchkis suspension package under it I was pretty impressed. I even put 4th gen camaro seats in it along with a whole host of Year One and Paddock parts in it. A guy ran a stop sign and totalled it allowing me to get my current 97 Camaro. I've always wanted to get another one, it was a fun car, and I actually had fun working on it, instead of cussing at it everytime I bust my knuckles or whatever. Anyway being out of school and having a better job is allowing me to get back into playing with toys again, like my R1 and hopefully another T/A soon. Once again thanks for all the help and info, but I'm still looking for one. Thanks guys

It will be street driven and possibly replace my 97Z when it is finished. I plan to build it pretty stout, but a race car definitely not. I really would like to get a 77-78 T/A and put a Olds 455 in it and have a torque monster. Keeping it N/A is as of right now. Depending on when I actually get it I might have a change of heart and go with a SC, but either way I would like to have a big block. Esp. since I won't have to pass emissions and I will also have a ton more room in the bay, esp. w/o AC
