Took me a good 3 days, but everything takes me much longer than it should. I would recommend stage 8 locking bolts if you don't already have them. As for parts nothing really special just basic wrenches/sockets, allen wrenches, allen head sockets, and you might want an O2 sensor socket however I don't think its really necessary.
You have to take the oil filter off, so you may want to get a new one and change the oil at the same time. Your gonna have to get the car jacked up HIGH, so have some blocks of wood or something to put under the jack stands. Make sure and get PB Blaster or something similiar to spray on the y pipe and manifold bolts otherwise you might break one off in the head
, spray them couple of times atleast one day before you start. Also you should prolly tape the primaries so you don't scratch the hell out of them. Don't tape every inch of them cause its not always easy to get it off (tape lengthwise, not around). You prolly already know most of this, but I'm just making sure.
Let me know when you are going to do it, cause I am planning on swapping heads/cam soon and I can't make an 8 hour drive spontaneously.
I hope you have a y pipe cause if not.......................

Camaro37 yo kick a$$!!!!!
That is all stuff I did not know, any other good pointers? I would love for you to swing by and turn a couple wrenches with us, I will give ya gas money for the trip!!! I will talk to my brother and set up a date, then let ya know! Here ya go, let me quiz ya right quick! Will the custom y-pipe off a 6 spd (my brothers), bolt right up to a A4 (my car)? The reason I ask is because my little brother has an Extream S-10. He bought the headers for his truck, & pre-fabbed y-pipe from a guy that was for an auto. My little brothers truck is a 5 spd, and he had to have it mad a little longer where the flanges are inorder to work right. I Was wondering if this might apply to my application???
Anyway I sure do appriciate ya'lls pointers!!! Big time!
Thank you so much! Keep them comming, any common problems? I do not know anything about installing longtubes?
Thanks,
Steve

Not really sure on that one, I had my y pipe custom made for $90. I know that there is a guy on this board who bought a y-pipe made for an A4 and he put it on his M6, but he had to do some grinding and whatnot to make it fit right. If the y-pipe is actually the shape of a Y then you will prolly have to do some cutting on the catback (so that it runs straight up the middle of the car) to connect them. I guess you could use band clamps (could possibly leak though) insteading of welding stuff together unless you have a welder.
Yes, you will probably have to lift the motor up to get the pass. header in, its not a big deal tho. Also you may want to buy an LT4 EGR block off plate GM Part #10054880 or you can rig up a ghetto block off by cutting and bending the pipe and sealing it w/ RTV. The size allen wrench you will need for the locking header bolts is 3/16, you only need allen wrenches if you are using the locking bolts.

Couple of other things:
O2 extenders
DEI Cooltape or similar-to protect wires from burning
Over the valve covers looms and wires- stock routing puts wires a little too close to the headers
New plugs- if you want
Spark plug socket

Depending on when you plan on doing it, I wouldn't mind swinging by and helping out a bit...
I've done my own headers twice(RK Sport) and helped a friend install Hooker LTs a couple of weeks ago...
I need to get my car back together first though
anywhoo...

I know matt from when he put the headers on his car we emailed each other back and fourth about meeting up sometime and it always seemed to fall through. BTW do you have a over the valve cover wire set - or can you get that from your bro. you will need one.
