Who ports/polishes heads in SAN ANTONIO?

What companies/individuals have a GOOD reputation for porting and polishing heads in SAN ANTONIO? At first, I just wanted to do whatever it took to get my car running again, but with the whole top end off of my car off, I realize there is ALOT of stuff I could do.

So, I want to get my stock heads (in the machine shop getting cleaned, resurfaced, and pressure tested) ported/polished.

I want a cam that will fit my application, double valve springs, hardened pushrods, Crane rockers, etc. etc.

Pretty much beef up my entire valvetrain.

How can I clean the bottom end out real good without removing the block from the car?

I also plan to get 3" Hooker LT headers and SOME exhaust setup other than my current flowmaster setup.

I'm looking for that Stock 2000-2002 Mustang GT exhaust tone, mellow and aggressive at the same time. Don't know how they do it, but I believe its impossible on an F-Body.

So, My next choice is an all out intimidating exhaust setup, something that sounds like an F-350 XLT powerstroke diesel at idle, but not all nasty and raspy during hard acceleration/high RPM.

Anything else that should be done while my heads, exhaust and intake manifolds, etc are off?

I have an $1900-$3800 budget to work with between December and January so money SHOULDN'T be a problem.

Ryan, if I didn't know any better I'd think you were God, 'cause you're certainly going to be my savior come January 2003. j/k

Seriously though, I'm an uninformed rookie when it comes to porting heads, so I don't know what you mean by "HOW MUCH". How much is measured by what?

Once I know this, I'll ask you for rates.

In the meantime, how much do you charge for heads/cam reinstall?

I'll do headers, but for the springs retainers, pushrods, lifters, etc. I prefer your expertise.

Just adding my 0.02 that Ryan's work is outstanding and I'm having him install my cam this Xmas along with a few other miscellaneous things. I've been to him before and always recommend others go to him as well. He won't overcharge you or charge you for stuff that you don't need, and always gets it right. And his true dual setup is badass too!!!

Yeah, there was a discussion going on about that in the Lounge, I believe the firing order was the biggest contributing factor to that tone.

So, what is going to be necessary for me to get in order to get the deep/throaty exhaust tone out of the true duals rather than the Ken Mook "ferrari-like" tone?

I want to run 3" Hooker Headers and then 2 reducers to reduce the pipe from the headers back to 2.5" so I can pick up a pair of Borla square intercooled exhaust tips for aesthetic value as well as better clearance for Ryan to work with.

I have a brand new Crane Retainer Spring Set I just bought from Summit. They said that I can return them for a full refund but I will sell them to you if you like. $145.99 new I will give them to $135.00 still in there origianl packing unopened. You will need this kit if you are doing any upgrading on the valvetrain. The springs are good for .600 lift. Talk with Ryan about these if you like, he was there when I ordered them for my car last week.

Ryan is stating on my car on Monday. He is doing heads and Headers. Check out my sig for my car. Everything you see in it was either bought from Ryan or he installed it. He has done all my work and I beleive it adds up to about $3500 including this coming week.

He jsut Finished Alex's car last week. Did heads, Cam, and Headers and does it sound badass!

If you have any questions about part numbers or what you would like to get done with your car email me at ucrazymonkey@cs.com. I have gone thru this numerous times in the last month and can help you out alot.

Kendricks does good porting work. I paid $450 for porting to get my heads to flow 258/189 thru the stock size valve. I also had my intake ported for $130. For a little more they can get it to flow 270. They're also a dealer for comp cams.

Keep the responses coming, so far my number one choice is Ryan. However, you mentioned I'd need a spring retainer remover, I thought if I took it to Ryan, he'd have all of the necessary equipment to remove the retainers, springs, valves, etc. at the dealership?

Ryan, after a bit of research and this page,

http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/ed...=745&aid=41598

I discovered that the stock heads flow roughly 215 CFM (intake) and 154 (exhaust)

Based on this information, How much would you charge to flow roughly 250 CFM (intake) and 190 (exhaust) ?

What about 270 CFM (intake) and 210 (exhaust)?
