Who knows motorcycles?
Who knows motorcycles?
A buddy of mine and I got into an argument last night when I was taking apart my bike. I say my bike doesn't have a fuel pump of any kind it's just gravity that feeds the carb's, he says there has to be a fuel pump somewhere.
Anyone have any ideas?

Negative, not all of them. Maybe the older ones yes, but not the newer ones. If its like an ealry 80 or older gravity fed. My 95 zx9 was carbed with a fuel pump. follow your fuel line coming from the carbs to the filter then to the pump if there is one.
Never heard of that on a carbed bike, all my friends that have R1's, and ZX-12's, when they turn the bike on, you can hear the pump priming, and delivering fuel. I thought carbed were gravity fed, and fuel was taken in by vaccum. My 99 Superhawk has no pump, its carbed...
SCHWEET!!! A fellow Superhawk rider.
The problem that I had yesterday was that it wasn't getting gas. There turned out to be a vacuum diaphram which lets fuel out of the tank that I neglected to hook up when I put the tank back on after painting it. So I start it up, get out on the road and the damn thing's got a short somewhere that kills the spark and the headlight (but not the neutral, sidestand, and high beam indicator lights).
So I'll turn the key and everything will run fine. I'll shake the bike a little and the headlight and ignition system dies, then I shake it some more and it's fine again.
I'm gonna try and track down the problem tonight. Damn Hondas.

'hawk v. busa?
with 300 more cc and the fastest prodution bike ever title, the liter sized vtwin superhawk would need a hell of a lot to keep up. this contest woundnt even be funny. .. of course everything is rider dependent, but even a newbie would take the 'hawk in a drag, as long as the newbie didnt stall. Shifting isnt an issue. the game would be over long before shifting into second.
btw, noting beats the all powerful Ninja 500!
