A reconditioned title is basically a car that is totaled but not a loss. My mother's 00 WS6 got a reconditioned title after the guy buy it wrecked and put it back together. All if needed was a rear clip.

Or basically a totaled car put back together meeting or exceeding the factory specifications.

He'll take 17k for it. If he contacts my friend, tell him that he was told about the car by Brandon.

A recon title means that at one point the car was considered 'totaled' - giving it a salvage title - and has been brought back and passed inspection making it street legal. To be totaled I think that most insurance companies use the 80% rule...meaning damages totaled up to 80% of the value (ie. $8000 in damage on a $10,000 car = total loss).

It's not a WS6, but he could always buy my '98 for $10k and make it a WS6 clone.

It's actually a formula. Here are two pics:

You know the car in the link you have is a fake SS. I saw that same car on ebay about a year ago and it had more details about it. It said that it was an Z28 and that they had the hood and badges put on after the wreck. If you look close enough you can see that it doesn't have an SS wing. Just watch out and if it is a true SS it will have SLP stickers on the door jams and under the hood. To bad you don't want an LT1, got one for sale.

Actually, a real SS won't necessarily have any SLP stickers anywhere. If you don't have any SLP options, you won't get the SLP stickers.

You have to look at the GM sticker on the driver's side door and look for the option code WU8.

Actually this is true it is not a real SS. Me and my buddy went to go see the car and they said it was originally a z-28, that had been wrecked. dont get me wrong the car looks really good just like new, but it has a recon title. having a recon title is not necessarily a bad thing, but most peps believe it will not be worth as much if they decide to ever resell it in the future. i guess in a case like this you, the buyer, would have to ask himself is this a really good deal. i've seen alot of ls1's going for bout the same price with good titles

A car that has been totaled is deemed a total loss, hence the designation "totaled".
