Ticket Question

I got a ticket the other day for "improper lane change (no signal right)" Anyone know a way to get out of it besides defensive, because i've taken that in the past year. thanks.

Just ask for deffered ajudacation. You'll usually get it if you ask for it. However, if you get another ticket the impropper lane change will be tacked on with the new ticket. Or you can just pay the ticket. Insurance agencies usually won't penalize you on a violation like that. They will usually look at accidents and speeding tickets over 15mph. I would call your insurance agency and see if your premiums will be affected by the ticket. I don't think that it will. But deffered judi will definately get you off. You may have to find/call a lawyer to give you directions on how to file it at the court house.

Was it SAPD? I think they do have def adjudication (probation) but you have to pay a fine and court costs... I dont think I had an option for probation when I went to the bexar co sheriff recently (bastages! )

BTW, my understanding is that insurance will ding you for *any* moving violation on your record...so best to try to keep it off there.

Good luck.

I promised the judge that I would use the turn signal for the next 60 days. $146 later, not counting the bulsht $3 I had to pay to park at the court, and I am now on probation. Thanks for all of the advice everyone.

That sucks Travis. I see those a$$holes all the time making lane changes without their signals. They are such hypocrites! They "enforce" the law but at the same time are always breaking them... /rant...

Yeah, tell me about it. I was pissed, but there really wasn't anything else i could do about it, without wasting a lot of my time.

You only got 60 days?!! a$$holes, they gave me 90 for no front plate!!!! But it only cost me $120, 3 trips to the court. Oh yeah, I was contesting a speeding ticket also. Got off that one though.

If it makes you feel any better, I got a seatbelt ticket after I pulled out of my driveway....by a highway patrol woman. It cost me a $100. I even had my highway patrol sticker on the back that I got for donating money to them. I guess I could have gotten a ticket for no front license plate and no cats...needless to say, I that is the last $100 donation they got!

Yep, you would have thought the donation from the ticket was enough.

It makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only lucky f-bod owner that gets b.s. tickets. I don't know how many i got for the front plate, it was like 5 or so, but i got them all dropped. It just seems like they are out for us.

I blame it on whoever is make such a big fuss about the street racing!! Obviously if you have a sports car, your street racing it or need to get tagged with a ticket. I could do anything I wanted in my wifes escort and would always just get a warning, in the Z, ticket straight off.

I totally agree. Talk about "profiling". There needs to be a warning on the sale tag. Atleast now they're starting to pull over the fried rice a little more often. Here in Houston we have tons of camaro cops, and I've driven by a little fast before and they never go after me. Maybe it works to my advantage sometimes too.
