you might want to read that article a little closer..... mostly all of you/us are going to have to keep the front plates (to be legal that is)

It's not official yet. It has only been passed by the House. It still needs to make it through the Senate.

18 replies and finally someone mentions this. Some of y'all must've failed Political Science in school.

I didn't read any of the articles, so if it actually passed as law, disregard the above statement.

5 years without one, no ticket..... Been stopped a couple times for it, but just warnings.

"Huh? That's weird, it only came with one from the dealership. There's not even a place to put it officer. (No holes/bracket ) I haven't been stopped since I owned my car. "

Doesn't make you immune to the law - you could still get a ticket for it. Sometimes if you are cool to the cop they will let you slide.

Just mount it to the airdam UNDER the front of the car (like DomesticViolence has said in the past) and be done with it. Its still visible from the front.

If I read the new bill correctly, they will only be changing how many plates are issued per car - so if you were issued 2 you may still have to display both of them. Anyone else read it that way too?
A person may operate
on a public highway a vehicle that displays two license plates if
both plates were assigned by the department for the registration
period as a set of plates.

Re: Texas, no front license plate, passes House

SECTION 9.02. The change in law made by this article
regarding the issuance of license plates by the Texas Department of
Transportation applies only to the issuance of license plates by
the department for a registration period beginning on or after the
effective date of this article. For a registration period that
begins before the effective date of this article, the department
shall issue license plates as required by the law in effect
immediately before the effective date of this article, and the
former law is continued in effect for that purpose.

if it is passed without ammendment, i think almost all of us have to legally keep the front plate.

For the most part, my Camaro hasn't had one in the 4.5 years I've had it. I've been stopped thrice. No tickets.

Then again, my car is an '81, and no one really cares what an old car does.

That would be a correct interpretation of the law, however, enforcement would be a significant issue. I think practically speaking, if it becomes law, you won't have to worry about having a front plate.

Re: Texas, no front license plate, passes House

I thought I remembered seeing that the votes seemed to be significantly in favor of the law, which would lead me to believe that it shouldn't have much opposition. You know they're going to keep charging the same for one plate as they do for two so they'll save money by making half as many plates so why not do it. Hell, I just moved back from FL and they don't have front plates, registration windshield stickers, or inspection stickers....now that was nice.
