I don't post here much but the time is coming for me to do work on my beloved firebird, after almost 10 years on the road and 115k miles there are a number of little things wrong with the car that I'd like to take care of and some other things I'd like to upgrade.
While the car is far from perfect cosmetically there is no real body damage other than a few door dings, some deepr than I'd like scratches and the results of 10 years of bugs and road debris on the front end. That was until the clear on the bumper started coming off 3 months ago, in the right nostril part. I did an ok job of sanding it down and hitting it with some clear but now 2 new spots have started peeing all the sudden in front of each headlight, just as before the clear is peeling leaving the color below it. Picking at the spot just makes more clear come off.

I would like to get the whole car sanded down and repainted, I know the bumper will need some special attention because I'm guessing there is a flaw in the paint that kept the clear from properly adhering to the color therefore whatever flaw that is will need to be taken care of otherwise I'll be in the same situation. At the same time I'd like to go ahead and just get the rest of the car painted.

I'm looking for a shop that does quality work at a fair price, not necessarily a cheap price and I'm not looking for a show qualty job but the car is black and I don't want to be staring at orange peel and other flaws once I spend the $$$ for something to be done right.

I'm near downtown will go as far as the other side of FW for the right combo of price and profesional work, the end price and time the car will be needed will dictate how soon I get this done.

 

Never had a car repainted but I have heard good things about 3M over here in Lewisville. Check out LS1tech in the Texas section. I remember the question being asked over there recently. Just search for it.
