I was surprised to see that myself. I went on the census sight and saw all of the cities > 100,000, and there are alot of towns around Dallas with alot of people like Plano, Garland, and Mesquite that I didn't realize were that big. I'd be interested to see what the population of entire metropolitan areas would be.

have the mavs won any nba championships?

sure dallas as more pro teams, but its just quanity, not quality

and dallas doenst have a mlb squad, arlington does, come on now

Not yet they haven't, but they're not the cities only hope either . And, they are steadily improving every year.

And how 'bout them Cowboys?? They used to be worth a flip

The Rangers are still in Dallas' metropolitan area - so they count as being a Dallas team.
