Question for all you Trans Am and especially Formula owners

Have any of you received letters in the mail from dealerships offering to buy your car back? I got one today saying that they are getting numerous requests for our cars right now and they are willing to do some straight trade ups for almost any vehicle on the lots (of course with some exceptions). Anyone else hear anything about this? Maybe our 4th gens will become classics after all.

Did you buy your car new? Maybe your just on their list of potential customers. My cars to old for any dealership to want unless you count the "Buy Here/Pay Here" lots

Besides, after looking at your sig. Guys like you and me have way too much money to even consider a change. How much would a Transam size casket cost anyway? My luck would be, some punk kid would dig up the car and leave my for worm food.

Just saying that these letters are true. I got an offer from mine that I could not refuse. My sister was looking for a car so I was shutteling her around. Got to some dealership and started talking on how much a new Sentra would be. Dude stopped me in mid tracks and asked if I wanted to sell my car with this huge smile on his face. Me dumbfounded said yeah as a trade in. He was all awesome. Talked to his manager, test drove it, came back and offerred me $12,000. On a salvage title V6, 32k, new tires and everything. I said sure. My sister ended up walking out with a 2003 Sentra for just 500 cash more with all the options and stuff. I only paid $6500 for my car. So making profit on it still left me dumbfounded. I did not want to sell, but I figured hey, I can find another with all the stuff I want, i.e. t-tops, power everything. But boy was I wrong. Down here, I have only found 3 of them for sell. All of em at outrageous prices. So I am going to have to try either S.A. or Houston to find one. So give it a shot. You might get lucky like me I did not know how much demand there is for this car and the Firebird till this happened. Good luck on yours if you decide to do it.

I wonder if I'll get an offer on mine... It's one of those rare 'Birds with the motor, tranny, interior and hood delete options. I bet I'll get some hella bucks!!!

I have not received anything like that, but I suppose I'd be interested since I appear to be upside-down on the note. If I could 'break even' on the car while keeping my Z06 wheels/tires (still have the stock ones)...that would make me quite happy.

What dealership was that Ben?

i have heard of other V6s getting the same letter.

i wonder what they would give me for my car

ben, how much money would you let your car go for. i think i would let mine go for 15. considering i have 10 owed and 21 put into it. but that really is a hard decision.

I got one of those a while back and it just said "a car like yours", not your Firebird/Formula/whatever so I figured it was just an advertisement. Did any of these specify what kind of car it was?

Yeah it specified that they were looking for formulas. For some reason they thought mine was too. My insurance also has my car listed as a formula for some reason too. Nino I probably would let my car go for $25k, no less. I've spent over $32k in mods alone.

Its just an advertisement. I get one for my old 96 Chevy truck about twice a year from a different Dealership than the one I work for. It says they are having a shortage of Silverados like mine and they are in high demand. I need to come in right away so they can put the most money in it now blah,blah,blah.......
