Post Petition for new strip in Houston

Over on the Houston F-Bodies board, a petition is going around to get a dragstrip closer to town than Baytown or Sealy. Probably won't happen, but worth a shot at least. Just wanted to let everybody know this, sorry if its already been posted.

There isn't any other place to put one! I live in Highlands and when the NHRA rolls into town I can hear them from my house.....

Anything inside the beltway is a no go. No piece of land big enough for it, nor far enough away from tons of suburb's....

Yep, thats what I was saying about the urban sprawl, 5 years ago you could have maybe built one of Grand Parkway but now a days they put a new neighborhood up every 5 minutes. So the noise problem is going to be a big one. Noise is the biggest problem, next being funding.

Lets see, there are 3 strips within an hour of Houston, and all run street nights
Does anyone really think the city would pay to build one? And then everyone within earshot would bitch and complain about the noise; hell, Baytown already has a noise curfew at 10 pm!
And of course, a strip closer would stop ALL the illegal street racing, instantly. And I have a bridge in Brookland going cheap.
Now, I have no room to talk, since I DO go to the track, and I DO cruise on the weekend looking to play.. if we really want a new track built, we should sue the producers of the "Farce and the Ficticious" movie for encouraging all the kids and their fartpipes..
