Unhappy Need help with a state inspection in Dallas

Hi. The daily driver (160,000 miles, so far) isn't passing inspection. Do we have any friendlies in Dallas who can assist me with this?

Thanks a ton!!

It won't pass

the O2 test. The O2 sensor probably needs to be replaced but the latest mechanic can't get it out of the exhaust manifold (it's frozen into the manifold) and I am looking at having to replace the entire manifold/sensor.

Seems like you are looking at a set of new headers. Besides if the 02 sensor is bad you need to change it out anyway. I see Y2K (2000) in your sig, so I guess your check engine light is on, I don't see how that doesn't get on your nerves.

If you anyone knows of any "friendlies" in the DFW area, please pm me or email me. I also am getting within a couple months of needing an inspection.

I probably should have mentioned

that my daily driver is a Nissan 200 SX. I don't think headers would be an appropriate accessory!!

Ha Ha. I was wondering how you put that many miles on so quickly. Can't you get a gently used manifold from a junk yard? I know there are still some places that will pass inspection with a little encouragement.

The used manifold is a good idea. I hear you about the 'friendly' inspection station. Finding one is the trick.

A friend on mine got his single turbo RX-7 passed by a guy in Arlington. You know how bad those are.

I'm working on a possible friendly right now, although I'm not too optimistic as every lead I've pursued so far has been full of excuses, lies and

I'll be sure to post up as soon as I get any definitive answer...

Hmmmmm. Do we have a possible group purchase here? Possibly a "Inspection GTG"?

A guy I work with is having inspection problems as well (paid $300 bucks for daily driver years ago and not willing to spend big bucks fixing). He contacted the authorities and is going this route: 1) Fail first inspection 2) Spend $100+ on repairs 3) Fail second test 4) Take vehicle to "official state run" inspection station in Fort Worth and get it inspected.

His info indicates that following this path has been successful 100% of the time. If this works, this equates to $100 fine a year fine for inspections. I will let you know how this pans out.
